Wistia alternative
The uncapped alternative to Wistia
Host and stream video without bandwidth ceilings, per-seat fees, or marketing-suite pricing — and with a full REST API and OpenAPI 3.1 spec when you need to build.
Why teams switch from Wistia to HeapStream
No bandwidth ceiling
Wistia caps bandwidth by tier, from 200 GB to 1 TB per month, and outgrowing the cap means a bigger plan. HeapStream packages include 2 to 5 TB a month, and at the cap you choose: overage at $10 per TB, a bigger package, or a reduced top quality for the rest of the month.
Storage that manages itself
Packages from 2 TB at a flat price; on pay-as-you-go, videos nobody has watched for 30 days count only half on the storage meter, automatically.
Built for developers, not only marketers
A REST API with an OpenAPI 3.1 spec — generate a client in any language — plus bring-your-own-player. Wistia centers on its own player and marketing tools.
No per-seat fees
Wistia’s entry plan includes a few seats, then bills per user. HeapStream prices by storage — invite your whole team at no extra cost.
Upload, organize, caption, and share — all from one dashboard.

- 1. Wistia’s published overage charges apply to webinars, not bandwidth — outgrowing a bandwidth cap means a higher tier.

When Wistia might be the better fit
Wistia is built for marketing teams: in-video email capture, CTAs, Channels galleries, webinars, A/B testing, and deep marketing-automation integrations (HubSpot, Marketo, and more). If generating leads from video is your primary goal, Wistia has tooling HeapStream doesn’t.
Wistia vs HeapStream — FAQ
Does Wistia charge for bandwidth?
No. Wistia’s plans are flat, but each tier has a fixed bandwidth cap, from 200 GB to 1 TB per month, and outgrowing it means a higher tier. HeapStream packages include 2 to 5 TB a month and never force an upgrade: at the cap you pick overage at $10 per TB, a bigger package, or a reduced top quality. Pay-as-you-go has no cap.
What happens when my library outgrows the plan?
On Wistia, storage is fixed per tier, and the step past its self-serve plan is an Enterprise conversation. HeapStream’s flat tiers go up to 2 TB — and videos nobody has watched for 30 days automatically count only half against your quota.
Does Wistia limit the number of videos?
Its current plans are storage-based rather than per-video. HeapStream is also storage-based — upload as much as your tier holds.
Does HeapStream have an API?
Yes — a REST API with an OpenAPI 3.1 spec; generate a client in any language. Wistia offers a REST API, but its platform is player- and marketing-first.
Can I use my own player?
Yes — a customizable built-in HTML5 player, or bring your own. Wistia centers on its own branded player.
